Obama Administration Fakes Unemployment Statistics!? Who’d a thunk it!

In a memo obtained by the Washington Examiner, David John Marotta makes a strong case that the real unemployment number is 37.2%, and not the “official” government number of 6.7%.  Marotta accurately points out that while the unemployment number has declined, the number of Americans leaving the work force (or the people actually out of work) has been steadily increasing to record numbers. How can the unemployment rate go down, while the number of people leaving and staying out of the work force are going up?  The Obama administration simply changes the way they report these numbers!

Marotta points out that the “misery index,” an economic calculation made famous during the Carter years, is at a 40 year high.  Marotta also states that we cannot trust the numbers reported by the Federal Reserve and Treasury Department because, when it comes to the real unemployment rate and the true “Misery Index,” the numbers are simply put … fraudulent! The government is being dishonest in how it calculates both unemployment and inflation.  These are the two numbers used to get the Misery Index figure.

In a memo provided to his clients, David John Marotta calculated the real unemployment rate of those not working is a sky-high 37.2 percent, not the 6.7 percent advertised by the Fed.   A more accurate Misery Index is over 14, and not the 8 claimed by the government.

“The unemployment rate only describes people who are working or looking for work,” Morotta said. That means they leave out a ton of other people, such as those who have run out of unemployment benefits and those who have simply given up.

“Unemployment in its truest definition, meaning people who do not have any job, is 37.2 percent. This number obviously includes some people who are not or never plan to seek employment. But it does describe how many people are not able to, do not want to or cannot find a way to work. Policies that remove the barriers to employment, thus decreasing this number, are obviously beneficial,” he and colleague Megan Russell in their new investors note from their offices in Charlottesville, Va.

Selective Memory Rampant in Senate!

Government Shutdown Averted, The New York Time...

Anyone remember why the government shutdown occurred?  It was a last minute attempt to avoid the Obamacare disaster.

A variety of compromises were offered to simply delay certain portions and make it less painful on the population. The answer from the senate and the administration was to play hardball, no negotiation whatsoever, which led to the shutdown.

So where are we now?  5,000,000 people that have become “magically” uninsured with no chance of regaining insurance in the near future.

Now, the “we will not negotiate” bomb-throwers in the senate that used vile hate mongering to defend a political position are now saying the exact same things that was being said by those trying to avoid the disaster in the first place.

Perhaps a Little “Poetic Injustice”?

English Barack Obama signing the Patient Prot...

I hate to see anyone get the shaft! This is also not a fluke … this same kind of story is cropping up in the news more and more frequently.  I do think, however, this is a little “poetic injustice” and folks like these got exactly what the voted for!

San Francisco architect Lee Hammack says he and his wife, JoEllen Brothers, are “cradle Democrats.” They have donated to the liberal group Organizing for America and worked the phone banks a year ago for President Obama’s re-election.

Since 1995, Hammack and Brothers have received their health coverage from Kaiser Permanente, where Brothers worked until 2009 as a dietitian and diabetes educator. “We’ve both been in very good health all of our lives – exercise, don’t smoke, drink lightly, healthy weight, no health issues, and so on,” Hammack told me.

The couple — Lee, 60, and JoEllen, 59 — have been paying $550 a month for their health coverage — a plan that offers solid coverage, not one of the skimpy plans Obama has criticized. But recently, Kaiser informed them the plan would be canceled at the end of the year because it did not meet the requirements of the Affordable Care Act. The couple would need to find another one. The cost would be around double what they pay now, but the benefits would be worse.

“From all of the sob stories I’ve heard and read, ours is the most extreme,” Lee told me in an email last week.

I’ve been skeptical about media stories featuring those who claimed they would be worse off because their insurance policies were being canceled on account of the ACA. In many cases, it turns out [2], the consumers could have found cheaper coverage through the new health insurance marketplaces, or their plans weren’t very good to begin with. Some didn’t know they could qualify [3] for subsidies that would lower their insurance premiums.

So I tried to find flaws in what Hammack told me. I couldn’t find any.

Hammack recalled his reaction when he and his wife received a letters from Kaiser in September informing him their coverage was being canceled. “I work downstairs and my wife had a clear look of shock on her face,” he said. “Our first reaction was clearly there’s got to be some mistake. This was before the exchanges opened up. We quickly calmed down. We were confident that this would all be straightened out. But it wasn’t.”

I asked Hammack to send me details of his current plan [4]. It carried a $4,000 deductible per person, a $40 copay for doctor visits, a $150 emergency room visit fee and 30 percent coinsurance for hospital stays after the deductible. The out-of-pocket maximum was $5,600.

This plan was ending, Kaiser’s letters told them, because it did not meet the requirements of the Affordable Care Act. “Everything is taken care of,” the letters said. “There’s nothing you need to do.”

The letters said the couple would be enrolled in new Kaiser plans that would cost nearly $1,300 a month for the two of them (more than $15,000 a year).

And for that higher amount, what would they get [7]? A higher deductible ($4,500), a higher out-of-pocket maximum ($6,350), higher hospital costs (40 percent of the cost) and possibly higher costs for doctor visits and drugs.

When they shopped around and looked for a different plan on California’s new health insurance marketplace, Covered California [8], the cheapest one was $975, with hefty deductibles and copays.

In a speech in Boston last week [9], President Obama said those receiving cancellation letters didn’t have good insurance. “There are a number of Americans — fewer than 5 percent of Americans — who’ve got cut-rate plans that don’t offer real financial protection in the event of a serious illness or an accident,” he said.

“Remember, before the Affordable Care Act, these bad-apple insurers had free rein every single year to limit the care that you received, or use minor preexisting conditions to jack up your premiums or bill you into bankruptcy. So a lot of people thought they were buying coverage, and it turned out not to be so good.”

What is going on here? Kaiser isn’t a “bad apple” insurer and this plan wasn’t “cut rate.” It seems like this is a lose-lose for the Hammacks (and a friend featured in a report last month [10] by the public radio station KQED.)

I called Kaiser Permanente and spoke to spokesman Chris Stenrud, who used to work for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. He told me that this was indeed a good plan. Patients in the plan, known as 40/4000, were remarkably healthy, had low medical costs and had not seen their premiums increase in years. “Our actuaries still aren’t entirely sure why that was,” he said.

While many other insurance companies offered skimpier benefits, Stenrud said, “our plans historically have been comprehensive.”

Kaiser has canceled about 160,000 policies in California, and about one third of people were in plans like Hammack’s, Stenrud said. About 30,000 to 35,000 were in his specific plan.

“In a few cases, we are able to find coverage for them that is less expensive, but in most cases, we’re not because, in sort of pure economic terms, they are people who benefited from the current system … Now that the market rules are changing, there will be different people who benefit and different people who don’t.”

“There’s an aspect of market disruption here that I think was not clear to people,” Stenrud acknowledged. “In many respects it has been theory rather than practice for the first three years of the law; folks are seeing the breadth of change that we’re talking about here.”

That’s little comfort to Hammack. He’s written to California’s senators and his representative, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., asking for help.

“We believe that the Act is good for health care, the economy, & the future of our nation. However, ACA options for middle income individuals ages 59 & 60 are unaffordable. We’re learning that many others are similarly affected. In that spirit we ask that you fix this, for all of our sakes,” he and Brothers wrote.

Consumer advocate Anthony Wright said it’s important to remember the way the insurance market worked before the act was passed, when insurers could deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions. “It’s impossible to know what the world would have looked like for these folks in the absence of the law,” said Wright, executive director of the group Health Access.

“We certainly had an individual market, especially in California which was the Wild Wild West, where there was huge price increases, cancellations, a range of other practices.

“That doesn’t mean that there were certain people who lucked out in the old system, who wound up in a group with a relatively healthy risk mix and thus lower premiums,” he added. “The question is: Is health insurance something where people get a rate based on the luck of the draw or do we have something where we have some standards where people who live in the same community, of the same age, with the same benefit package are treated equally?”

Wright said discussions should focus on how to provide consumers like Hammack with assistance if they barely miss qualifying for subsidies.

So what is Hammack going to do? If his income were to fall below four times the federal poverty level, or about $62,000 for a family of two, he would qualify for subsidies that could lower his premium cost to as low as zero. If he makes even one dollar more, he gets nothing.

That’s what he’s leaning toward — lowering his salary or shifting more money toward a retirement account and applying for a subsidy.

“We’re not changing our views because of this situation, but it hurt to hear Obama saying, just the other day, that if our plan has been dropped it’s because it wasn’t any good, and our costs would go up only slightly,” he said. “We’re gratified that the press is on the case, but frustrated that the stewards of the ACA don’t seem to have heard.”

It is amazing to me that, like Lemmings, they still gulp down their daily allotment of cool aid and continue to worship and follow Dear Leader!  The old saying is, “Be careful what you wish for … it might come  true!”

Can you detect horse manure?

 Free horse manure?

Interesting comment on the news this evening. When President Bush said that there were chemical weapons in Iraq, all of the worlds intelligence agencies agreed with him. (Well, those that are affiliated with NATO and our allies.) Democrats and Republicans on the intelligence committees also supported this conclusion. When it turned out that these weapons had been moved and were no longer in the country – the media promoted the whole “Bush Lied, People Died” mantra. Now that President Obama has been proven to make multiple statements that are the exact opposite of the truth, and evidence has come out since that he had been briefed on the facts so he absolutely knew that he was not telling the truth the media reaction is: “He misspoke.” Really? Dozens of times, using the same phrase in different situations, specifically as a response to the challenge that the plan would force people out of their current plans? This is misspeaking? Wow. Perhaps ABC, NBC and CBS should get their ombudsmen to publish their definitions of lying as a public service announcement so we all know how to react when politicians are feeding us a load of horse manure. Or is it as simple as: No matter the statement, if it comes from a Republican, it is a lie. The corollary being, no matter how outrageous the lie, if it comes from a Democrat (and it gets proven beyond a reasonable doubt) then it was a mistake. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t blame the politicians for this… this is a failure on the part of the talking head media.. of course our leaders in Washington take advantage of the situation.

Wrong Hillary! Benghzai does make a difference!

Benghazi – four Americans dead. Our DOJ has decided on a new rule – no-one can share any information on what happened until they completely conclude their investigation and a trial.  (They apparently made this rule up all on their own.)  The “clever” bit – they are not conducting an investigation in the first place.  Known terrorists who participated are conducting interviews with foreign journalists … but we can’t find them.  Our program that give millions in financial awards to help find wanted terrorists?  None of these specifically identified terrorists are listed. For over a year now, US citizens have been held and threatened to keep them from testifying. (The recent eye witness that completely contradicted everything this administration said about Benghazi was a British citizen…)  As of Benghazi, we in the U.S. now live in a progressive version of a police state.   But as Hillary Clinton said so eloquently, “what difference does it make?”

Raging party exposes generational ignorance

English: Entering Stephentown New York

English: Entering Stephentown New York (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

This post is an opinion piece that was published on 10/22/2013 in The Daily Beacon, a student newspaper published at The University of Tennessee.  It has been posted here with the permission of the author, Katie Dean, a junior in political science.  I found it to be very refreshing to hear this from a younger adult and future leader.

Earlier this month, at least 300 teenagers broke into a beautiful residence in Stephentown, N.Y., and threw a Labor Day party rager that, by the looks of it, was not a party to be forgotten.

Not only was the house incredibly nice, but alcohol was abundant and the location was fairly isolated.  Pictures of the party show broken windows, dozens of holes in the walls and an overall lack of respect for the residence.

Turns out, the Stephentown home actually belongs to former NFL football star, Brian Holloway.

Not only were the kids stupid enough to break into the vacation house of a well-known athlete, but they proceeded to post pictures of the party and tweet about it as the festivities continued. Holloway, who was in Florida at the time, was shown the live twitter feed by his son and quickly realized he had more than 300 unwanted guests in his New York home.

Holloway immediately set up a website called helpmesave300.com where you can view pictures from the party and read the tweets of the kids involved. On the website, Holloway discusses his love of Stephentown and the priceless memories made in that house, as well as his desire to reach these kids and truly show them that what they did was wrong.  He talks about how saddening it is that kids dies every year from alcohol-related accidents, and he clearly expresses his wish not to punish the kids, but to reach out to them and help them.

He even set up a catered picnic and invited the kids to come have lunch and help him clean up the mess, stating that he would not press charges if they came back to help.  He also asked that a statue that was taken  the night of the party be returned, as it was of great importance to his family. The statue was a tribute to Holloway’s stillborn grandson.

Unfortunately, only four of the kids showed up to help Holloway.  Even more saddening is the fact that after creating the website, Holloway received threats from some of the 300 [parents] saying they would sue him for defamation and hurting their children’s chances of getting into college.

All the time I hear people talking about how America is going to hell in a hand basket, or whining about what the federal government is doing or not doing.  We certainly have a lot of problems facing us right now, but parents like the ones who raised these kids are truly one of the biggest problems with our society. This generation includes future leaders and businessmen and women of our country, and they are being taught to take whatever they want and do whatever they want regardless of the consequences.  And if there are consequences, just sue the victim for defaming you.

As much as it pains me to sound like an old grandma on a soapbox, this situation truly speaks volumes about what we value as a society and out ability to accept responsibility for our actions.  Brian Holloway is obviously one of the most kind-hearted, generous people alive today and he is being spat on for trying to do a fantastic thing. While anyone else would have immediately sought legal action against these kids, he actually tried to go to the root of the problem and teach them a valuable lesson.

Due to a lack of remorse from the Stephentown vandals, Holloway has now decided to pursue legal action.  Four kids between 17 and 21 have been arrested and the charges include felony larceny and burglary, as well as alcohol charges and trespassing.  The sheriff’s department has said that up to 100 kids could face charges.

This story is not about a group of kids who vandalized a football player’s house; it’s about a generation who enjoys drunken destruction devoid of consequence, and the parents who refuse to enforce the consequence at all.

Katie Dean

There is a strangely familiar thread running through this story.  We see this same “no consequences” mindset in our current administration, our federal government, our entitlement-minded free-loaders, many of today’s parents, and the kids who will,  someday, be our future leaders.  Pretty scary isn’t!

The Real Threat to Minorities is the Ultimate Inversion!

Constitution of the United States of America

Constitution of the United States of America (Photo credit: The U.S. National Archives)

The way I see it, the smallest and most endangered minority in America is the individual. It clearly follows then that, those who work to deny an individual’s rights cannot truly claim to be defenders of minorities!

Individual rights (or inalienable rights) are not subject to a public vote; a majority has no right to vote away the inalienable rights of a minority; the political function of “a right” is precisely to protect minorities from oppression by majorities … and as I stated earlier … the smallest minority on earth is the individual.

These days, liberals make a concerted effort to obliterate this point, so it cannot be repeated too often that the Constitution is a limitation on the power of the government, not on private individuals.  The Constitution does not restrict the conduct of private individuals, it only restricts the conduct of the government.  The Constitution is not a charter for government power, but a charter for the citizen’s protection against the abuse of government power.  In my opinion, this is the driving force behind the progressive-liberals discussions of the Constitution needing to be a “living document”, the continuous attacks on the 2nd Amendment, willingness to overlook NSA abuses of power, and even the statements that the Constitution is obsolete and should be thrown out … it stands in opposition to their goals!  If the 2nd Amendment can be removed … how long before other amendments will also be removed?

Obama’s administration assured Americans that the NSA scandal was a non-issue and that there were minimal instances of spying on “innocent” Americans.  Obama stated that over 50 terrorist attempts have been thwarted because of these same NSA spying efforts.  However, a document leaked by Snowden to the Washington Post proves that this is far from an accurate portrayal  Actually, since 2008 (which coincides nicely with the Obama presidency … coincidence?), thousands of incidents of the NSA spying on innocent Americans occur yearly and the “secret” FISA Court, in reality, … has no control over the NSA.  Can you name any of the 50 thwarted terrorist plots?  Senator Patrick Leahy, a Democrat, expressed real concern that he sees no evidence of any terrorist plots being thwarted by spying on innocent Americans.  Isn’t it odd that while Bush was in office, the liberal minions were screaming hysterically about abuses of government power over the very same type of NSA activities.  These activities have been greatly increased under the Obama administration, yet now these minions are strangely silent. Snowden, in spite of the fact  that what he did was wrong and illegal, may turn out to be a hero.

Progressive liberals know that there is no real way to “rule” innocent men. The only real power any administration has is the power to crack down on criminals.  So, when there aren’t enough criminals to make controlling their subjects feasible, a corrupt government will simply make innocent men criminals by declaring so many things to be a crime that it becomes virtually  impossible for men to live without breaking some law.

The goal of the progressive-liberals, as history clearly shows us, is to force this country into big government welfare by a series of slow working, barely discernible, yet specific measures:  enlarging the power of the government a step at a time, never permitting these steps to be summed up into stated principles, never permitting their true goal to be identified, and ridiculing or demonizing free Americans who stand up and called them on it. Their plan is for a socialist big government nanny-state to prevail … but not by choice (as in votes) or by violence.  They are quietly working to achieve their goals by a long process of deceit, evasion, and epistemological corruption; leading to an eventual  “done deal.”  ObamaCare, Fast and Furious, Benghazi,  assaults on the Second Amendment, and the current NSA scandals are perfect examples of this plan in action.  Obama lives like Joseph Stalin while freedom-loving individuals, labeled “deniers,” are ridiculed, spied upon and made targets of government oppression.   The sad thing is that many Republicans, like John McCain, Chris Christie, and John Boehner, are party to the plan because they actually see themselves as part of the new American Aristocracy … and not as freedom loving individuals!  The goal of every freedom loving American must be to stop them … period!

I asked a liberal co-worker once, “what my fair share of his pay check was!”  He laughed it off, but clearly was not happy with my question.  Hard-working “A” student were once asked if they would share their A’s with those that got C’s … so everyone could get a B.  They were not to happy with the idea!  Seems it never hurts when it is someone else’s money in question!

Obama and his cronies’ political ideology survives by looting (spun as “taxing the rich” and “getting your fair share”), but a free country truly survives on production.  Look at our history objectively!  America’s great abundance was not created by public sacrifices to “the common good.” This is simply a silly fairy tale!  America’s success and greatness  was created by the productive genius of free men who pursued their own personal interests and made their own private fortunes. They did not starve the people to pay for America’s industrialization like Obama is doing.  They gave the people better jobs, higher wages and cheaper goods with every new machine they invented, with every scientific discovery or technological advance created.  Because of this, the whole country moved forward and profited … and we were not suffering, every step of the way under burdensome taxes and regulation.  Yes … some people were richer than others and some were even down right poor!  Can you point to any other nation were that situation does not exist?  Can France, Russia, Sweden, China say they have no poor people?  Did they ever achieve the economic greatness of the United States?  No … they did not!

We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the  government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by  permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the  stage of rule by brute force.

~ Ayn Rand

Freedom is truly  the first necessary requirement of “the common good”  … America’s real achievements rested solely on that foundation in the past and could not have existed without it. We need to restore real freedom if we are going to have a future!

Are We Confused Yet?!

English: President Barack Obama's signature on...

I sure am …

So Obama tells us, on one hand, that al Qaeda is defeated and on the run; while on the other hand he foments Islamic revolutions, arms terrorists and gives our fighter jets and tanks to the Muslim brotherhood … while he slashes the U.S. military and is working hard to disarm law-abiding citizens!
Meanwhile, the liberal drive-by mass media reports “U.S. Law Makers Rattled” (I am sure al Qaeda was thrilled to read this report) by new non-specific “specific threat” that will certainly be used to justify increased cavity searches at American airports and NSA spying on American citizen’s phone calls and emails … and we close 20+ embassies (We sure don’t want another Benghazi Gate)!
Of course, all this comes after spending over $2 trillion to defeat al Qaeda and their “man-caused disasters” and “over-seas contingencies”!
So, now we have new al Qaeda affiliates are cropping up all over the place like Yemen and Boston, … probably well-funded with U.S. taxpayer dollars via that same Muslim brotherhood Obama gave billions of dollars to!
Then in the name of Homeland Security, Eric Holder prosecutes our border states who attempt to protect their own borders by enforcing the federal laws he refuses to enforce … while hiding behind “Executive Privilege” to cover up his incompetence and gun-running schemes in Mexico … also while labeling the Tea Party, American veterans, and Christians as terrorists.
Meanwhile, Union leaders like Jimmy Hoffa Jr., finally realizing ObamaCare is as bad as we told them it was before Pelosi passed it to find out what was in it, are calling for it to be fixed, unfunded, or repealed … and in response, Obama simply gives his “rattled” Congress an exemption from that same ObamaCare!
SO…  is the crème-de-la-crème of the liberal democratic party?  Are you freaking kidding me?  Yay!

Barack Obama: Extortion 17 to Benghazi

Imbecile

Extortion 17:  I think it is time true Americans stand and be counted.  It is truly no longer a time to “accept the things we cannot change.”  It is time to change the things we cannot accept.

Want some truth?

Seal Team 6, America’s most elite special operations team, was sent to their slaughter in the most obscenely mismanaged military failure in recent Naval history.  93 days after Seal Team 6 got Osama Bin Laden (we should not even know this) they were stupidly sent to their death in what was probably an Al Qaeda planned ambush.  Joe Biden put the targets on their backs, Obama‘s “Rules of Engagement” let it happen.  They were sent into a landing zone in the middle of 3 hour long battle, in a slow moving 28-year-old CH-47D Chinook because our military does not have enough MH-47s … and with no pre-landing suppressive fire (those troublesome rules of engagement again).

Want some more truth?

In the 11 years we have been waging war in Afghanistan, 79% of those killed or wounded have been under Obama’s leadership.  During the 8 years of the Bush administration, 2072 American soldiers came home wounded from Iraq/Afghanistan.  In only the last 3 years under Obama, 14,977 American soldiers have come home wounded.  Obama increases the number of American soldiers being wounded in action almost as fast as he increases our debt!

Who would you rather have in charge if your son or daughter was serving in our military?  I served in the military.  American sons and daughters volunteer to fight to defend  the country they love; not to be sent in to be sacrificed or slaughtered because of some radical leftist president’s ideological love-fest with radical Muslims.

Did you ever stop to wonder what Obama and Clinton were trying so hard to cover up in Benghazi?  (I mean, besides their sheer incompetence)  Maybe … missiles to Syria?  Just asking …

ObamaCare: Killing An Already Dying Economy!

Barack Obama signing the Patient Prot...

Can you say … Duh!  The Affordable Care act (ObamaCare), Obama’s only real achievement since becoming president in 2008, is in real serious trouble. A new AP poll finds that only 1/3 of Americans support his takeover of our nation’s healthcare system.

Many small businesses have already had to start cutting employee hours or even have been forced to have layoffs to avoid the business-killing regulations imposed by ObamaCare.  This has not helped an already terrible economy.  To make matters worse, the recovery has also been further stalled by uncertainty as Obama’s massive tax hikes (you know, the ones Nancy Pelosi had to “pass” the bill to see were hidden in it) have slowly come into the light.   But then, Pelosi can just exempt herself from ObamaCare … can’t she.  Handy … isn’t it!

Small businesses aren’t the only ones trying to mitigate Obama’s jobs-killing rules, either. Even unions have begun to understand how bad ObamaCare will be and have started making noises … and asking if it should be repealed.

Remember Obama’s claim that his new law would lower medical costs for all? Now, even the government is admitting that costs will actually go up as a result of ObamaCare. In fact, insurance rates and healthcare costs are skyrocketing as the full effect of ObamaCare is beginning to be realized.  Maybe somebody should have read it before Congress rammed it on through!  Ironically, Sen. Democrat leader Harry Reid just recently asked for even more money for ObamaCare.

Some elected Democrats are running scared over their support of ObamaCare, worried that it will cost them their seats.  And it should!  Republican or Democrat, we pay our representatives a six-figure salary to do their jobs … which should, I would think, include reading and understanding the legislation they are voting to pass.

ObamaCare is making healthcare costs go up,  is already making healthcare harder to get, is already driving doctors out of the field, is driving up the costs of business, depressing wages, and is hurting our already delicate economy.  We have Obama, Pelosi, Reid and their group of radical, non-reading left-wing thugs to thank for that!  Remember that in 2016!
