The True Source Of the Second Amendment

Second Amendment

It amazes me just how many Americans do not understand the concept of Second Amendment Rights and where  this American right originates.  Even American’s who support the Second Amendment, own firearms, join the NRA, and exercise their rights under the Second Amendment daily often misunderstand its origins.

What is scary to me, however, is that the left-wing liberals certainly seem to, at least on one level, understand the reason that the Founding Fathers  wrote Second Amendment and included it in the Bill of Rights.  That is why they are so intent on eliminating the Second Amendment rights of U.S. citizens.

Of  course, you have to understand that most liberals in this country are not liberals at all … at least not in the true sense of the liberal ideology.  True liberals, as a general rule, would not support gun control because it is a violation of a personal freedom ….  and all liberals certainly claim to strongly support individual freedom.  This is the root of their support for the gay movement, women’s rights to murder 1.37 million American babies each year, legalizing drugs, PETA, terrorist’s rights, and the drive-by media’s right to commit libel and slander against conservatives with impunity while openly supporting their chosen liberal politicians during elections.

In this country, the term liberal is most often used to hide the true identity of anti-American movements.  The ACLU, for example, originated as a communist organization dedicated to bringing about a peaceful transition  to a communist American state.  When the ACLU’s founding members discovered that the term communist was working against them because of the stigma attached to it, they simply changed their name.

Many other “liberals” in this country are simply socialists; but because this term also still has a stigma attached to it, they choose to hide behind the term “liberal.”

Then we also have the liberal “facists”  … like Barack Obama quickly seems to be turning out to be.  What kind of government allows private ownership of business, but tells you how to run them …..   look it up!

So, what does this have to do with gun control.  Despite the fact that many cool-aid drinking liberal followers live in a dream world where we all sit around the global campfire singing Cumbaya,  their leaders (the movers and shakers of the liberal elitist movement) are actually very intelligent.  They understand that, with the exception of California and the New England states, the backbone of real America is still made up of bitter commonfolk who cling to their Bibles and their Guns;  and … that these bitter (or shall we say Freedom Loving Rugged Individualists) simply do not want to live in a socialist (or a facist) nanny state.  Their solution, then, is to lie, cheat, misinterpret, play on fears, elect any and all rabid anti Second Amendment politians (or  judges) they can find, use their control of the mass media, and otherwise work to disolve our Second Amendment rights.

America's 1st Freedom

Because of this on-going assault on the Second Amendment, we often hear some really odd soundbites such as

its people like you who will hand the White House over to some COMMI DEMOCRAT, who will elect some liberal Supreme Court Justices … and they will destroy the Second Amendment

or even such nonsense as …

the jack-booted feds will roll you up like an old carpet.  If you think you can resist them then you will join the ranks of the Branch Davidians and the martyrs of Ruby Ridge.  All the good sheeple will fall in line … or die.

Rhetoric such as this is silly and misses the point entirely.

Implicit in comments such as these is the idea that our rights, including those validated under the Second Amendment, are somehow granted to us by the 9 old men and women on the Supreme Court; or from our legislature; or from our president.  Implicit in these comments is the idea that the right to Keep And Bear Arms actually comes from the Second Amendment itself.  This is a fallacy.  The Second Amendment, the Supreme Court, the legislature, and the presidency are all thing created by men, and thus, they can be taken away by other men.

Liberty

The truth is that the Second Amendment (and the other rights listed in the bill of Rights) simply acknowledges and allows us to protect our Inalienable Rights to “Life, Liberty, and  the Pursuit of Happiness.”  Depending on your personal belief system, these rights would be granted to us as either Natural Rights based on our condition of being Human Beings …. or as Divine Rights granted to us by God.

Such rights are yours from the moment of your birth and cannot be taken away by other men … unless you allow that to happen.

Of course we can write our congressmen, join the NRA or the GOA, write letters to the editor, argue cases in court, and work hard to elect pro-gun legislators … and we should certainly be doing all these things.  However, our Second Amendment rights are not based on the outcome of these mechanisms.  Those “liberals” currently in power like Nancy Pelosi, Eric Holder, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Emanuel Rahm, Harry Reid, Janet Napolitano, Sarah Bradey, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and soon to be Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomay among others, would certainly want to have you believe that it does; and will certainly work to convince you that it does … but, in truth …. it does not.

Our Right To Bear Arms rests entirely upon our willingness to stop, by whatever means necessary, anyone who attempts to confiscate them. What these other mechanisms do is simply postpone any coming day of reckoning … which is certainly worth doing as long as it is feasibly possible.

However, any political or governmental entity acting to confiscate or deny a honest, law-abiding American citizen the right to keep and bear arms is acting in clear violation of the U.S. Constitution and is, therefore, no longer a legitimate government agency.

God given. Not negotiable.

And for those of you who will certainly, without thinking or doing any research, chime in and exclaim … “but that’s not what the Second Amendment means” …  ”its about militias, not individuals” … ” it is outdated because it was written 200 years ago” …  you should remember that your precious Freedom of Speech was acknowledged and guaranteed at precisely the same time

… and take the time to look at and actually read some of the historical quotes listed below.  You might gain some “intelligence.”

“On every question of construction (of the Constitution) let us carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates, and instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed out of the text, or invented against it, conform to the probable one in which it was passed.” (Thomas Jefferson, letter to William Johnson, June 12, 1823, The Complete Jefferson, p. 322)

“The whole of the Bill (of Rights) is a declaration of the right of the people at large or considered as individuals…. It establishes some rights of the individual as unalienable and which consequently, no majority has a right to deprive them of.” (Albert Gallatin of the New York Historical Society, October 7, 1789)

“The right of the people to keep and bear arms has been recognized by the General Government; but the best security of that right after all is, the military spirit, that taste for martial exercises, which has always distinguished the free citizens of these States….Such men form the best barrier to the liberties of America” – (Gazette of the United States, October 14, 1789.)

“No Free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.” (Thomas Jefferson, Proposal Virginia Constitution, 1 T. Jefferson Papers, 334,[C.J.Boyd, Ed., 1950])

“The right of the people to keep and bear…arms shall not be infringed. A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the best and most natural defense of a free country…” (James Madison, I Annals of Congress 434 [June 8, 1789])

“A militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves…and include all men capable of bearing arms.” (Richard Henry Lee, Additional Letters from the Federal Farmer (1788) at 169)

“What, Sir, is the use of a militia? It is to prevent the establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty…. Whenever Governments mean to invade the rights and liberties of the people, they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order to raise an army upon their ruins.” (Rep. Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts, spoken during floor debate over the Second Amendment [ I Annals of Congress at 750 {August 17, 1789}])

“…to disarm the people – that was the best and most effectual way to enslave them.” (George Mason, 3 Elliot, Debates at 380)

“Americans have the right and advantage of being armed – unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.” (James Madison, The Federalist Papers #46 at 243-244)

“the ultimate authority … resides in the people alone,” (James Madison, author of the Bill of Rights, in Federalist Paper #46.)

“Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any bands of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States” (Noah Webster in `An Examination into the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution’, 1787, a pamphlet aimed at swaying Pennsylvania toward ratification, in Paul Ford, ed., Pamphlets on the Constitution of the United States, at 56(New York, 1888))

“…if raised, whether they could subdue a Nation of freemen, who know how to prize liberty, and who have arms in their hands?” (Delegate Sedgwick, during the Massachusetts Convention, rhetorically asking if an oppressive standing army could prevail, Johnathan Elliot, ed., Debates in the Several State Conventions on the Adoption of the Federal Constitution, Vol.2 at 97 (2d ed., 1888))

“…but if circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude, that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people, while there is a large body of citizens, little if at all inferior to them in discipline and use of arms, who stand ready to defend their rights…” (Alexander Hamilton speaking of standing armies in Federalist 29.)

“Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation. . . Notwithstanding the military establishments in the several kingdoms of Europe, which are carried as far as the public resources will bear, the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.” (James Madison, author of the Bill of Rights, in Federalist Paper No. 46.)

“As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow citizens, the people are confirmed by the article in their right to keep and bear their private arms.” (Tench Coxe in `Remarks on the First Part of the Amendments to the Federal Constitution’ under the Pseudonym `A Pennsylvanian’ in the Philadelphia Federal Gazette, June 18, 1789 at 2 col. 1)

“Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American… The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state government, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people” (Tench Coxe, Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788)

“The prohibition is general. No clause in the Constitution could by any rule of construction be conceived to give to Congress a power to disarm the people. Such a flagitious attempt could only be made under some general pretense by a state legislature. But if in any blind pursuit of inordinate power, either should attempt it, this amendment may be appealed to as a restraint on both.” [William Rawle, A View of the Constitution 125-6 (2nd ed. 1829)

"I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for few public officials." (George Mason, 3 Elliot, Debates at 425-426)

"The Constitution shall never be construed....to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms" (Samuel Adams, Debates and Proceedings in the Convention of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 86-87)

"To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of people always possess arms, and be taught alike especially when young, how to use them." (Richard Henry Lee, 1788, Initiator of the Declaration of Independence, and member of the first Senate, which passed the Bill of Rights, Walter Bennett, ed., Letters from the Federal Farmer to the Republican, at 21,22,124 (Univ. of Alabama Press,1975)..)

"The great object is that every man be armed" and "everyone who is able may have a gun." (Patrick Henry, in the Virginia Convention on the ratification of the Constitution. Debates and other Proceedings of the Convention of Virginia,...taken in shorthand by David Robertson of Petersburg, at 271, 275 2d ed. Richmond, 1805. Also 3 Elliot, Debates at 386)

"The people are not to be disarmed of their weapons. They are left in full possession of them." (Zachariah Johnson, 3 Elliot, Debates at 646)

"Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?" (Patrick Henry, 3 J. Elliot, Debates in the Several State Conventions 45, 2d ed. Philadelphia, 1836)

"The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed." (Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist Papers at 184-8)

"That the said Constitution shall never be construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the press or the rights of conscience; or to prevent the people of The United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms..." (Samuel Adams, Debates and Proceedings in the Convention of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, at 86-87 (Peirce & Hale, eds., Boston, 1850))

"And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms....The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants" (Thomas Jefferson in a letter to William S. Smith in 1787. Taken from Jefferson, On Democracy 20, S. Padover ed., 1939)

"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined" (Patrick Henry, 3 J. Elliot, Debates in the Several State Conventions 45, 2d ed. Philadelphia, 1836)

"The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." -- (Thomas Jefferson)

"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence ... From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable . . . the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that is good" (George Washington)

"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks. (Thomas Jefferson, Encyclopedia of T. Jefferson, 318 [Foley, Ed., reissued 1967])

“The supposed quietude of a good mans allures the ruffian; while on the other hand, arms like laws discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside…Horrid mischief would ensue were one half the world deprived of the use of them…” (Thomas Paine, I Writings of Thomas Paine at 56 [1894])

“…the people are confirmed by the next article in their right to keep and bear their private arms” (from article in the Philadelphia Federal Gazette June 18, 1789 at 2, col.2,)

“Those, who have the command of the arms in a country are masters of the state, and have it in their power to make what revolutions they please. [Thus,] there is no end to observations on the difference between the measures likely to be pursued by a minister backed by a standing army, and those of a court awed by the fear of an armed people.” (Aristotle, as quoted by John Trenchard and Water Moyle, An Argument Shewing, That a Standing Army Is Inconsistent with a Free Government, and Absolutely Destructive to the Constitution of the English Monarchy [London, 1697])

“No kingdom can be secured otherwise than by arming the people. The possession of arms is the distinction between a freeman and a slave. He, who has nothing, and who himself belongs to another, must be defended by him, whose property he is, and needs no arms. But he, who thinks he is his own master, and has what he can call his own, ought to have arms to defend himself, and what he possesses; else he lives precariously, and at discretion.” (James Burgh, Political Disquisitions: Or, an Enquiry into Public Errors, Defects, and Abuses [London, 1774-1775])

“Men that are above all Fear, soon grow above all Shame.” (John Trenchard and Thomas Gordon, Cato’s Letters: Or, Essays on Liberty, Civil and Religious, and Other Important Subjects [London, 1755])

“The difficulty here has been to persuade the citizens to keep arms, not to prevent them from being employed for violent purposes.” (Dwight, Travels in New-England)

“What country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms.” (Thomas Jefferson to James Madison, Dec. 20, 1787, in Papers of Jefferson, ed. Boyd et al.)

(The American Colonies were) “all democratic governments, where the power is in the hands of the people and where there is not the least difficulty or jealousy about putting arms into the hands of every man in the country. (European countries should not) be ignorant of the strength and the force of such a form of government and how strenuously and almost wonderfully people living under one have sometimes exerted themselves in defence of their rights and liberties and how fatally it has ended with many a man and many a state who have entered into quarrels, wars and contests with them.” [George Mason, "Remarks on Annual Elections for the Fairfax Independent Company" in The Papers of George Mason, 1725-1792, ed Robert A. Rutland (Chapel Hill, 1970)]

“To trust arms in the hands of the people at large has, in Europe, been believed…to be an experiment fraught only with danger. Here by a long trial it has been proved to be perfectly harmless…If the government be equitable; if it be reasonable in its exactions; if proper attention be paid to the education of children in knowledge and religion, few men will be disposed to use arms, unless for their amusement, and for the defence of themselves and their country.” (Timothy Dwight, Travels in New England and NewYork [London 1823]

“It is not certain that with this aid alone [possession of arms], they would not be able to shake off their yokes. But were the people to posses the additional advantages of local governments chosen by themselves, who could collect the national will, and direct the national force; and of officers appointed out of the militia, by these governments and attached both to them and to the militia, it may be affirmed with the greatest assurance, that the throne of every tyranny in Europe would be speedily overturned, in spite of the legions which surround it.” (James Madison, “Federalist No. 46″)

“The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered, as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them. And yet, though this truth would seem so clear, and the importance of a well regulated militia would seem so undeniable, it cannot be disguised, that among the American people there is a growing indifference to any system of militia discipline, and a strong disposition, from a sense of its burthens, to be rid of all regulations. How it is practicable to keep the people duly armed without some organization, it is difficult to see. There is certainly no small danger, that indifference may lead to disgust, and disgust to contempt; and thus gradually undermine all the protection intended by this clause of our national bill of rights.” (Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States; With a Preliminary Review of the Constitutional History of the Colonies and States before the Adoption of the Constitution [Boston, 1833])

“The tank, the B-52, the fighter-bomber, the state-controlled police and military are the weapons of dictatorship. The rifle is the weapon of democracy. If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military. The hired servants of our rulers. Only the government-and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws.” (Edward Abbey, “The Right to Arms,” Abbey’s Road [New York, 1979])

“You are bound to meet misfortune if you are unarmed because, among other reasons, people despise you….There is simply no comparison between a man who is armed and one who is not. It is unreasonable to expect that an armed man should obey one who is unarmed, or that an unarmed man should remain safe and secure when his servants are armed. In the latter case, there will be suspicion on the one hand and contempt on the other, making cooperation impossible.” (Niccolo Machiavelli in “The Prince”)

“You must understand, therefore, that there are two ways of fighting: by law or by force. The first way is natural to men, and the second to beasts. But as the first way often proves inadequate one must needs have recourse to the second.” (Niccolo Machiavelli in “The Prince”)

“As much as I oppose the average person’s having a gun, I recognize that some people have a legitimate need to own one. A wealthy corporate executive who fears his family might get kidnapped is one such person. A Hollywood celebrity who has to protect himself from kooks is another. If Sharon Tate had had access to a gun during the Manson killings, some innocent lives might have been saved.” [Joseph D. McNamara (San Jose, CA Police Chief), in his book, Safe and Sane, (c) 1984, p. 71-72.]

“To prohibit a citizen from wearing or carrying a war arm . . . is an unwarranted restriction upon the constitutional right to keep and bear arms. If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of constitutional privilege.” [Wilson v. State, 33 Ark. 557, at 560, 34 Am. Rep. 52, at 54 (1878)]

For, in principle, there is no difference between a law prohibiting the wearing of concealed arms, and a law forbidding the wearing such as are exposed; and if the former be unconstitutional, the latter must be so likewise. But it should not be forgotten, that it is not only a part of the right that is secured by the constitution; it is the right entire and complete, as it existed at the adoption of the constitution; and if any portion of that right be impaired, immaterial how small the part may be, and immaterial the order of time at which it be done, it is equally forbidden by the constitution.” [Bliss vs. Commonwealth, 12 Ky. (2 Litt.) 90, at 92, and 93, 13 Am. Dec. 251 (1822)]

” `The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.’ The right of the whole people, old and young, men, women and boys, and not militia only, to keep and bear arms of every description, and not such merely as are used by the milita, shall not be infringed, curtailed, or broken in upon, in the smallest degree; and all this for the important end to be attained: the rearing up and qualifying a well-regulated militia, so vitally necessary to the security of a free State. Our opinion is that any law, State or Federal, is repugnant to the Constitution, and void, which contravenes this right.” [Nunn vs. State, 1 Ga. (1 Kel.) 243, at 251 (1846)]

“The provision in the Constitution granting the right to all persons to bear arms is a limitation upon the power of the Legislature to enact any law to the contrary. The exercise of a right guaranteed by the Constitution cannot be made subject to the will of the sheriff.” [People vs. Zerillo, 219 Mich. 635, 189 N.W. 927, at 928 (1922)]

“The maintenance of the right to bear arms is a most essential one to every free people and should not be whittled down by technical constructions.” [State vs. Kerner, 181 N.C. 574, 107 S.E. 222, at 224 (1921)]

“The right of a citizen to bear arms, in lawful defense of himself or the State, is absolute. He does not derive it from the State government. It is one of the “high powers” delegated directly to the citizen, and `is excepted out of the general powers of government.’ A law cannot be passed to infringe upon or impair it, because it is above the law, and independent of the lawmaking power.” [Cockrum v. State, 24 Tex. 394, at 401-402 (1859)]

This Really Pisses Me Off ….

How long are we Americans going to stand by and watch while Obama and his team of liberal left-wing goonies fast-track our Country into a facist mockery of what this Nation, our Constitution, and our American ideals of liberty, freedom, justice, and rugged individualism once stood for.

It looks like Obama is destined to be a big hero in communist Russia.  He may single handedly bring about the demise of capitalism … at least according to Pravda.

American capitalism gone with a whimper

It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.

First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas than the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their “right” to choke down a McDonalds burger or a BurgerKing burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our “democracy”. Pride blinds the foolish.

Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different “branches and denominations” were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the “winning” side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the “winning” side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America.

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America’s short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.

These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them?

These men, of course, are not an elected panel but made up of appointees picked from the very financial oligarchs and their henchmen who are now gorging themselves on trillions of American dollars, in one bailout after another. They are also usurping the rights, duties and powers of the American congress (parliament). Again, congress has put up little more then a whimper to their masters.

Then came Barack Obama’s command that GM’s (General Motor) president step down from leadership of his company. That is correct, dear reader, in the land of “pure” free markets, the American president now has the power, the self given power, to fire CEOs and we can assume other employees of private companies, at will. Come hither, go dither, the centurion commands his minions..

So it should be no surprise, that the American president has followed this up with a “bold” move of declaring that he and another group of unelected, chosen stooges will now redesign the entire automotive industry and will even be the guarantee of automobile policies. I am sure that if given the chance, they would happily try and redesign it for the whole of the world, too. Prime Minister Putin, less then two months ago, warned Obama and UK’s Blair, not to follow the path to Marxism, it only leads to disaster. Apparently, even though we suffered 70 years of this Western sponsored horror show, we know nothing, as foolish, drunken Russians, so let our “wise” Anglo-Saxon fools find out the folly of their own pride.

Again, the American public has taken this with barely a whimper…but a “freeman” whimper.

So, should it be any surprise to discover that the Democratically controlled Congress of America is working on passing a new regulation that would give the American Treasury department the power to set “fair” maximum salaries, evaluate performance and control how private companies give out pay raises and bonuses? Senator Barney Franks, a social pervert basking in his homosexuality (of course, amongst the modern, enlightened American societal norm, as well as that of the general West, homosexuality is not only not a looked down upon life choice, but is often praised as a virtue) and his Marxist enlightenment, has led this effort. He stresses that this only affects companies that receive government monies, but it is retroactive and taken to a logical extreme, this would include any company or industry that has ever received a tax break or incentive.

The Russian owners of American companies and industries should look thoughtfully at this and the option of closing their facilities down and fleeing the land of the Red as fast as possible. In other words, divest while there is still value left.

The proud American will go down into his slavery with out a fight, beating his chest and proclaiming to the world, how free he really is. The world will only snicker.

Support Mark Devol for Congress in 2010

I have known Mark Devol and his wife, Becky, for many years.  I taught their two girls karate for several years when they were younger.  Mark and Becky DeVol are both solid conservative Americans!  Mark is running for Congress in 2010 in the Third District of Tennessee.

Mark is a millwright and runs his own company, Devol Millwork.  He has, on occasion, employed some of the young men who passed through my dojo.  Becky is the treasurer for the Andersonville Volunteer Fire Department and home schooled their two daughters … who are now both junior volunteer firefighters.

Here are some of the positons Mark DeVol takes on his campaign website:

Government Reform

Mark supports Congressional Term Limits.  He supports reducing the size of the federal governmen, and generating  federal revenue through a Fair Tax.

Mark supports the creation of a 10th Amendment Commission to review the constitutionality of all federal agencies and programs under Section 8, and … returning the powers and responsibilities left to the states back to the states.

He also supports the bill sponsored by John Shadeeg of Arizona that states that all bills introduced in the U.S. Congress must include a statement setting forth the specific constitutional authority under which the proposed law is being enacted.  Such a measure would force a continual re-examination of the role of the federal government and would certainly go along ways toward curtailing the evermore intrusive reach of the federal government.

Under Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution, Congress has the power to do 18 specific things.  They are:

  • To lay and collect Taxes
  • To borrow Money
  • To regulate Commerce
  • To establish a uniform Rule of Naturalization
  • To establish uniform Laws of Bankruptcies
  • To coin Money
  • To establish Post Offices
  • To promote the progress of Science and useful Arts
  • To establish a Courts system inferior to the Supreme Court
  • To declare War
  • To provide and  maintain a Military
  • To make all Laws necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers

Mark believes the federal government should stick to doing just that.

For my part, I find that I strongly agree with his position …

Homeland Security

Mark believes that the primary function of the federal government is to protect its citizens by providing for a strong national defense

…. I absolutely agree!

Immigration

Congress is charged with the responcibility of securing the borders of this country and  Mark DeVol thinks they should do just that.

I agree but would also like to see that tied to no amnesty for illegal immigrants … and temporary worker permits for honest migrant workers!

Energy

Mark supports energy independence and achieving this by increasing nuclear energy production, oil production and building modern oil refineries while our scientists work to continue developing alternative energy sources.

Makes sense to me ….

Budget and the Economy

Mark supports a budget balanced by utilizing fiscally conservative principles, lowering taxes, and letting the American people decide where to spend their money  ….  Can I get an Amen!

Education

According to Mark, our education system must be able to meet the demands of a rapiding growing and prosprous economy.  He says that the fundamental concepts of  personal finance, basic economics, personal responsibility, and self-governence must be taught … all students must be given the right tools to succeed!

… sounds much better than teaching them to put condoms on a banana or that God is a myth to me!

Mark also supports increased salary and bonus for effective teachers and Tort reform

Health Care

Mark points to Cover TN as a good  example of what works in health care.  He supports making all medical expenses tax exempt, allowing the purchase of health insurance on the free market, eliminating state mandates and allow purchasing of catastrophic insurance, allowing medicare patients to utilize their health savings accounts and to have optional coverage, and Tort reform

….  again, this just make too much sense!  But there is always someone one looking for handouts!

Social Security

Mark wants to protect citizens who have paid into and rely on social security.  According to Mark, future generations should be educated to develop the financial skills and discipline to fund their own retirement

… can I please get another Amen!

I like it!  No political double talk … just sound American Principles and Values being reintroduced and put back to work!

These are the very same Values and Principles that originally made this Country great … and that the enlightened progressive  left-wing liberals (or whatever you want to call them) have tried so hard to stamp out … rugged individuality, personal responsibility, freedom of opportunity, and the true American liberty to succeed …  or fail … with the freedom to try again!

Random Liberal Absurdities

Blue Star Outrage

We have now, no doubt, all heard Canton, Ohio military mother who had been ordered by her condominium board to take down a blue star flag honoring her son’s wartime service.

The flag with a blue star on a white background is a symbol for families with members serving during a time of war. Marlene Gano of Perry Township near Canton vowed her flag would remain in place until the Iraq war was over and her son,  Master Sgt. Richard Gano Jr., was home.

During the dispute with Marlene Gano and her 76-year-old husband, Richard, the condominium management company found itself flooded with dozens of calls and e-mails since the weekend, some asking if they were communists, or run by Al Qaeda, and some even included death threats.

The condo association on Channonbrook Street SW did reverse its course on Monday, and its management company, REM Commercial Association Management, said Marlene Gano could display the flag

Despite the reversal, the Ganos said Monday that they still plan to move.

“They may say they’re going to back down,“ said Richard Gano, an Army veteran. “But sometime in the future, it may come back up again.”  It seems they did not like the Gano’s Cresh or Christmas candles in the window either.

“Always tell the truth. That way, you don’t have to remember what you said.”

~Mark Twain

In 2007, Real Clear Politics published an artice in which Porter Goss places Madame Pelosi right along with the top members of the intelligence committees at a “virtual tour” of CIA interrogation facilities in 2002:

Their article described some of the background to last week’s congressional uproar over the CIA’s destruction of so-called “terror tapes” that had been made during harsh interrogations of captured al-Qaeda terrorists.

It turned out that back in September 2002, four top members of the intelligence committees — including Rep. Nancy Pelosi, who is now House speaker — had been given a “virtual tour” of CIA interrogation facilities overseas.

They heard descriptions of some of the harsh techniques that would be used, including the now-infamous practice known as waterboarding.

“Among those being briefed, there was a pretty full understanding of what the CIA was doing. And the reaction in the room was not just approval, but encouragement,” former Rep. Porter Goss told the Post reporters.

He attended the 2002 briefing, along with Pelosi, as chairman of the House intelligence committee. He later served from 2004 to 2006 as CIA director.

This should come as no surprise!

Either Nancy Pelosi, as the ranking Democrat on the intelligence committees, knew of and condoned the use of expanded interrogation techniques such as waterboarding … which makes her a liar!

Or …

Nancy Pelosi, as the ranking Democrat on the intelligence committees, attended these briefings and left clueless … which makes her incompetent.

You choose!

As a passing thought … it does seem that clueless and incompetent are the two hallmark characteristics President Obama’s uses in selecting his choices for his administrative appointments …  lets see:

Joseph Biden … doesn’t know when to shut up!

Janet Napolitano … can’t keep her secret in-house memos detailing her radical left-wing reportings on the imminent danger posed by freedom-loving, pro-life, law-abiding American veterans an in-house secret!

Eric Holder … using his Attorney General’s Office to pursue political vendettas against anyone and anything that is a viable tool in the war on terror … excuse me, I mean  … overseas contingency operations!

Check this link out!

And Lastly … we have all seen what Obama’s economic dream team has accomplished:

President Barack Obama, calling current deficit spending “unsustainable,” warned of skyrocketing interest rates for consumers if the U.S. continues to finance government by borrowing from other countries.

“We can’t keep on just borrowing from China,” Obama said at a town-hall meeting in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, outside Albuquerque. “We have to pay interest on that debt, and that means we are mortgaging our children’s future with more and more debt.”

Mr. President … You promised us tax cuts … but it really sounds to me like you are setting us up for massive tax increases!   This would be especially aggrevious and insulting in light of the irresponcibly less than serious nature of your proposed tax cuts!

But hey … America … you got what you voted for!

An American Creed!

The Honorable Dean Alfange was an American statesman born December 2, 1899, in Constanstinople (now known as Instanbul).  He was raised in upstate New York.  He served in the U.S. Army during World War I and attended Hamilton College, graduating with the class of 1922.  This American Creed was first puplished in This Week Magazine and was later printed in The Reader’s Digest, October 1952 and January 1954.

I decided to post it here on my blog as a reminder of what true Americans once believed, how they once acted, and what they once fought for.  We need to get this American Creed back.  It is time for true Americans to stand up and be counted … to fight for their country … to defend it from its enemies – both foreign and, sadly now, especially domestic!

An American Creed

It is my right to be uncommon – if I can.

I seek opportunity – not security.  I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me.

I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed.

I refuse to barter incentive for a dole. I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of utopia.

I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a handout.  I will never cower before any master nor bend to any threat.

It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid; to think and act for myself, enjoy the benefit of my creations and to face the world boldy and say, “This I have done.”

By Dean Alfange

What can any real American say to that except, “Amen!”

Obama On, “Putting Children First”

Obama’s Education Secretary, Arne Duncan, stated at a discussion on education in Cedar Falls, Iowa that “today… if children don’t have the skills to graduate, we condemn them to social failure and poverty.”

And … in fact, Obama’s administation has already committed S100 billion to inprove our  American education system.  I wonder who is going to actually get that money … the NEA?

Probably so, because “good old Arne” decided, a few weeks back,  not to admit any new students to the D.C. voucher program; a program which has initially shown itself to be succcessful in allowing low-income children to get a better education by attending private schools … instead of the failed, violent, drug-dealer infested, gang ridden Washington, D.C. public school system.

The  decision … made just a week after 200 families had been told that their children were being awarded scholarships for the coming fall …  was made despite a new study showing some promising initial results for students in the program and before the Senate has had a chance to hold promised hearings on the issue.

Yet again, it seems that even with all the talk during Obama’s campaign about putting children first; it’s clear that the special interest groups that have long opposed vouchers (for example, the NEA), are getting their way.

Even when I try to find something good to say about Barack Obama and his administration, he invariably pulls the rug out from under that attempt.

Obama is quickly proving to me that he is truly nothing more than another politically correct, coldly calculating, successful career politician who has simply risen to power on his charisma … a secular humanist bent on creating a new America based on big government, wealth redistribution, and the suppression of individual rights.

Naturally, this would have to include the right to send your children to a school of your choice … where they might get a good education … and not be preyed on by drug dealers and gang bangers.

I sometimes wonder why there is not more outrage within the  Black and Hispanic communities at Barack Obama  for his betrayal of these two ethnic groups who voted overwhelmingly for him.  I would think that this is an issue that would be  of real importance to both those communities, as well as the American community as a whole.  Maybe they are still under the influence of the Obama Cool Aid … and still chanting …..

The simple truth is that this Hope and Change president has destroyed the chances of a good education for minority children in high risk areas like Washington, D.C.   Barack Obama’s administration has ended the Hope for Washington, D.C. area children who were able to attend private schools, some of which were on the verge of graduating.  The Change is that they will now be back in the failed public school system.

Some of these fortunate children who had recieved vouchers were even able to attend the Sidwell Friends School, a D.C. area private school where Obama sends his own children.  From his campaign speeches, one might have thought Obama would break the elitist mold … step up … and maybe even lead by example by enrolling his children into the same public schools he is now condemning these children to … since  those vouchers, which  allowed some families to make up the difference and send their children to this $29000 per year private school, are now history.

When Obama signed that Omnibus Spending Bill several weeks back, he put into effect legislation that had been included by several congressional democrats that will effectively end the school voucher program, and send almost 2000 mainly Black and Hispanic school children back to the failed, violent, and poorly-performing D.C. public schools.  He has, in effect, ended one of the  rare federal programs which has actually achieved some success.

It would be interesting to hear Obama’s reasoning for this action.  Obama could have vetoed this pork-laden Omnibus Spending Bill for several reasons.   He could simply have told Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid that he would not allow a program that was achieving measurable success in providing quality education to “at risk” American children to be cancelled.

But … and I guess not suprisingly … Obama went right along with Nancy Pelosi’s radical left-wing anti-American political agenda and signed a bill that took the real  Hope  out of the future of these children.  Why you might ask  … I will tell you why … simply because the powerful teachers unions oppose it and the Republicans had originally initiated it.

The real injustics of this action by Obama and the liberal democratic elitists in congress is that while they seem perfectly willing to send these “at risk” children back to the violent, drug-ridden hell that is the  D.C.  public schools, you can bet your bottom dollar they would never consider sending their own children to those same schools.  They are clearly stating that these schools are good enough for your children … but not for theirs!  I ask you … what happened to “change we need?”

The simple fact is, we stilll have business as usual in Washington.

President Obama has stated he will make the public schools in this country a place where all children can get a decent education, and that this will end the need for any voucher programs.

I call on Barack Obama to prove he’s serious about improving the public school systems throughout America.  I would really like to see him put his money where his mouth is!  He could begin by enrolling his two daughters in a Washington, D.C. public school, and urging those members of Congress who are for shutting down the voucher program to do the same.  At least then, they would have some real motivation to improve those school systems.

Proud Member Of The Right Wing Conspiracy

I was listening to Halloran Hilton Hill on the way to work the other morning and he was asking his audience if they thought America is becoming a divided nation. I was not surprised that many listeners stated they did. I would have to say that America certainly is becoming divided and though it saddens me, it is becoming divided for a good reason.

The fact is that there is a small percentage of the American population (mostly found in New England and in California) that are bound and determined to turn this country into a myopic nanny state patterned after France or Sweden.

They have managed, through lies and deceit, to get their Messiah who descended from the Temple elected by chanting Hope and Change to a mass of Sheeple who were all too willing to drink from the cool aid they offered … as long as Obama promised that he would take from the rich and give to them.

It is enough to make real Americans sick to their stomachs!

America was founded by a group of patriots, who despised such European socialist nonsense and started a country based on the right of the individual to live in freedom, to work hard, and to succeed (or yes, even fail) in whatever endeavor they chose. No one was guaranteed success; they were simply guaranteed the right to try again … and again … and again if needed!

Despite the liberal drive-by media’s snobbish attacks on those “stupid redneck tea baggers,” anyone with a little intelligence can look around and see that socialist and communist states are failing all around the globe. For all their “intelligent airs”, endless money supplied by left-wing radicals like George Soros,  and their lock-down drive-by media control; these liberals really don’t have a clue.  Any middle class American who has had to live on a budget knows that the government can’t borrow its way out of debt, can’t spend its way to economic security, and that the government cannot print enough money to end world poverty!

And yet, these “elite” left-wingers led by Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and Clinton are pushing America down that same path just as quickly as they can.  Have we already forgotten that the Congress led by Pelosi had an even lower popularity rating than former president George W Bush?  Have we already forgotten that Obama promised to end pork … and go through the budget and proposed new legislation “line by line” to cut wasteful spending! Hell, Congress never even had time to “read” their pork-laden “stimulus” bill.

We have also forgotten Obama stated that he would look out for main street America and end the “Golden Parachutes” for corrupt and/or inept executives leaving failing banks, insurance companies and other federally-aided financial institutions.

We have also already forgotten that Obama stated he supported the 2nd Amendment (of course, many real Americans weren’t even fooled by that bold-faced lie).

The simple fact is that Obama was elected because many Americans voted against John McCain simply because they were mad at the Republicans for trying to out-spend liberal democrats and forgetting their real conservative roots … and Obama made some conservative sounding promises!

Have you noticed how long that lasted? Obama is now shaking hands with Hugo Chavez and apologizing to the world for America’s heinous crime of not being perfect. I am so glad we have Chavez and Castro to show us the right way to go.

Yes, America is divided.  It is being divided between Americans and European Aristocratic Wannabees!  Thomas Jefferson said that a little periodic revolution is good for a country. I hope he was right, because it looks like we are heading that way.

And yes, I am a proud member of the Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano’s so-called “Right Wing Conspiracy” because I do own guns, I did serve my country, I believe the U.S. Constitution is the supreme law of the land, and I believe in the natural, God-given rights of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

TEA TIME!

Have you sent a tea bag to your representatives yet?  I was watching Fox News coverage of the Tea Parties across America and was thrilled.  It is about time conservative Americans got angry and spoke out.  It is time to “Draw A Line In The Sand!”

We simply cannot borrow our way out of debt!  Nor can we spend our way to economic security!  How many households or businesses would survive on that model?  Our government is gleefully mortgaging the future of our great, great grandchildren and busily saddling them with a debt they can never hope to pay.  The government is simply put … out of control!

And we … my fellow Americans … have lost sight of the fact that they work for US!   We actually are the WE THE PEOPLE!

This is not a Republican issue!  This is not a Democratic issue!   This is a “we want America back” issue.  I am sorry but this country was not founded by socialists, communists, left-wing radicals, or liberal egalitarians.  It was founded by individualists who believed in and fought for the individual’s right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

A few other observations and pet peeves:

Obama Lies, America Cries

The simple truth is that  Obama’s  presidency, while still in its infancy, has already failed in keeping its campaign promises.  I seem to remember Obama’s eloquent campaign speeches in which he stated clearly that there would be no pork in his adminstration and that he would go through each bill “line by line” if needed to cut wasteful spending …. but surprise … surprise;   he supported and helped push through the largest single piece of pork legislation in the nation’s history … one not so cleverly disguised as a “stimulus” bill.

I have read that  Obama has already committed to spend more tax dollars than all the Presidents from George Washington to George W put together.   But … surely the new liberal democratic leadership should have known that  … if only they had they had time to read the legislation they so swiftly passed … or maybe they just don’t care!

Second Amendment Supporter?

For a president who respects Second Amendment rights, Obama has a strange way of showing it.  After pledging support for the Second Amendment during his campaign, Obama quickly appoints fanatical gun-ban supporter Rahm Emanuel as his Chief of Staff.  Next, he selects former Clintonite and rabid anti-gunner Eric Holder as his attorney general.

And … we all know where his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, stands.  She should fit in well with the members of the U.N. working hard to take away American’s Second Amendment rights.

Obama-Speak For Terrorism?

What the heck is this liberal crap?  A terrorist act is no-longer a terrorist act.  It is now a man-caused disaster?  While President Obama makes speeches that compare bankers to suicide bombers, his new Homeland Security Secretary, Janet Napolitano, claims that the T-word, terrorism, is just too inflammatory and representative of the old-fashioned “politics of fear.”   She prefers a new term: “man-caused disaster.”    I’m sorry!  But … I have to ask … what if the suicide bomber is a female?  Isn’t it sexist to use “man-caused disaster”?

Oh Yeah … and …. the war on terror is now an “overseas contingency operation.”   Sounds like a load of Bravo Sierra to me!!

In addition, according to the recently released report by her Department of Homeland Security, Ms. Napolitano is very concerned about the vast right wing conspiracy to overturn her Messiah’s new govenment of Hope and Change.  You know the one  made up of:  (a) law-abiding American gun owners,  (b) any American veterans returning from the War on Terror (ooops … overseas contingency operation …. my bad), (c) anyone who thinks the Founding Fathers had the right idea, and  (d) everyone and anyone who did not vote for Barack Obama in the last election.

God Bless Australia Again

Wow!   Is there an American version of Australia’s Prime Minister John Howard hiding in the background somewhere?  Please step up!

Prime Minister Howard says “IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT.”  He is sick and tired of his country worrying about whether they are offending some individual or their culture … especially when that culture harbors and supports terrorists and pirates.   According to John Howard, fundamentalist Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law should simply leave Australia and move to an Islamic state;  or … if they want to stay and live in Australia … they must do so under Australian law.  Wow!   What a concept!

I like it!

Senator McCain Warned Americans Of The Pending Fannie/Freddie Financial Fiasco

I heard Democratic supporters blasting away against John McCain for his “Bush” like financial policies and how only Barack Obama has the answers to the current economic crisis facing us due to the collapse of financial giants like Freddie Mac, Fannnie Mae, Bear Sterns, and AIG .

In his speech, which I have included below, McCain somehow managed to predict the entire collapse that has forced the government to bail out (with tax-payer money) Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and now, AIG.

McCain pointed out the falsification of financial records to benefit executives, including Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson, both of whom are now financial advisers to Barack Obama.

Senator McCain also pointed out the power of their lobbying efforts to forestall oversight over their business practices. He finishes with the warning that proved all too prescient over the past few days and weeks.

Mr. President, this week Fannie Mae’s regulator reported that the company’s quarterly reports of profit growth over the past few years were “illusions deliberately and systematically created” by the company’s senior management, which resulted in a $10.6 billion accounting scandal.

The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight’s report goes on to say that Fannie Mae employees deliberately and intentionally manipulated financial reports to hit earnings targets in order to trigger bonuses for senior executives. In the case of Franklin Raines, Fannie Mae’s former chief executive officer, OFHEO’s report shows that over half of Mr. Raines’ compensation for the 6 years through 2003 was directly tied to meeting earnings targets. The report of financial misconduct at Fannie Mae echoes the deeply troubling $5 billion profit restatement at Freddie Mac.

The OFHEO report also states that Fannie Mae used its political power to lobby Congress in an effort to interfere with the regulator’s examination of the company’s accounting problems. This report comes some weeks after Freddie Mac paid a record $3.8 million fine in a settlement with the Federal Election Commission and restated lobbying disclosure reports from 2004 to 2005. These are entities that have demonstrated over and over again that they are deeply in need of reform.

For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac–known as Government-sponsored entities or GSEs–and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market. OFHEO’s report this week does nothing to ease these concerns. In fact, the report does quite the contrary. OFHEO’s report solidifies my view that the GSEs need to be reformed without delay.

I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole.

I urge my colleagues to support swift action on this GSE reform legislation.

Now I ask you … who is more intuned to the financial pulse of the nation and the problems it is having. Senator John McCain, who warned us five years ago, of this disaster … or, Barack Obama, the Messiah who will step down from his Greek Temple and turn us all into truly holistic, enlightened, spiritual beings singing Kumbaya and chanting, “Hooooopppppeeeee …. Chhhhhaaaaannnngggeee …. Hooooopppppeeeee … Chhhhaaaannnngggeee!

P.S.

Oh Yeah … About TrooperGate … Folks, this is a non-issue. If that Alaskan State Trooper tasered a 10-year old, he should have been fired. More importantly, the governor should have been pushing for it because the troopers work for, and represents, the governor. Regardless of whether the said trooper was a relative, in-law, or a total stranger … he should have been fired
