Chicago Teachers Demonstrate Democratic Politics of Greed and Corruption

So … Chicago, the stronghold of democratic machine politics … the home to Obama and  Rahm Emanuel … has given us another great example of the wrongness of Obama’s entitlement politics that are killing our nation!

According to the last numbers I heard, we have about 23 million Americans out of work.  Chicago teachers are currently among the highest paid teachers in the nation, most making $75,000 per year before benefits … some making more!  These same collectively bargaining teaches are striking for higher wages … having just rejected a 16% pay raise.  The hubris, gall, and out-right greed of these Chicago teachers amazes me … especially considering the state of today’s public school … essentially, most of them suck!

But then again, we know that the NEA is all about protecting bad teachers and creating good little socialist robots … at the expense of our children’s real education.  Tenure for bad teachers, no performance-based pay, leftwing-progressive curriculum …. what a mess!   I am so glad I do not have young children today … if I did they would have to be home schooled or in private schools and not in these left-wing brainwashing institutions.  I guess that’s why progressives are working so hard to make home schooling impossible ….

The smart Chicago families are the ones who have their children in charter or private schools.

It is interesting that progressive-liberals like to point to FDR and his “New Deal” for their motivation and core belief system on dealing with the current economic crisis.  However, FDR was strongly opposed to collective bargaining by government employees as is demonstrated by the following quotes …

This is an excerpt from a letter President Roosevelt wrote to Luther C. Steward, President of the National Federation of Federal Employees in 1937:

“All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations when applied to public personnel management. The very nature and purposes of Government make it impossible for administrative officials to represent fully or to bind the employer in mutual discussions with Government employee organizations. The employer is the whole people, who speak by means of laws enacted by their representatives in Congress.”

And … if you think his position on collective bargaining isn’t clear enough from that quote, consider this one:

“Since their own services have to do with the functioning of the Government, a strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent on their part to prevent or obstruct the operations of Government until their demands are satisfied. Such action, looking toward the paralysis of Government by those who have sworn to support it, is unthinkable and intolerable.”

That about sums it up!
