Just a Few Tidbits of Truth and Wisdom

Let’s start with a few Tweets that made me chuckle, think, or throw up my hands in exasperation!

Kevin Eder@keder

Why are Democrats so defensive about record food stamp participation under Obama? I thought food stamps stimulate the economy!

Kevin Eder@keder

If Dems really believed food stamps were good economic stimulus, they wouldn’t call U racist 4 pointing out that there’s record enrollment.

Democrats are the party of legal illegals, abortion, no-ID vote fraud, gay marriage, national bankruptcy (see California). A freak party.

@Geri4Liberty How do you fight drug cartels with bean bags? Who ever made those rules R incompetent. Just like the rule if they see guns RUN?

FACT: Today, July 9, 1868, Republicans passed the 14th Amendment to confer citizenship to Blacks. Democrats opposed it. http://youtu.be/KWG8AcCty_I

Just a Quick Note:

I still am amazed at the hold the Democratic Party has on so many black Americans!  Remember when Obama stated he would hold his accomplishments so far as president against those of Lyndon B. Johnson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.  Well, if Obama wants to compare himself to LBJ  … that’s actually pretty accurate!  LBJ was one of the most corrupt (and racist) presidents America ever elected.  Here are a few quotes by the famous Democrat, LBJ (who Obama admires so much):

Austin, Texas May 22, 1948 quoted in Quotations from Chairman LBJ, Simon and Schuster, NY 1968

“This civil rights program about which you have heard so much is a farce and a sham–an effort to set up a police state in the guise of liberty. I am opposed to that program. I fought it in the Congress. It is the province of the state to run its own elections. I am opposed to the anti-lynching bill because the Federal Government has no business enacting a law against one kind of murder than another … [And] if a man can tell you who you must hire, he can tell you who not to employ. I have met this head on.”   ~Lyndon B. Johnson

A few more gems:

“These negros, they’re getting pretty uppity these days and that’s a problem for us since they’ve got something now they’ve never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness”  ~ Lyndon B. Johnson

“I’ll have those n%$^#s voting Democratic for the next 200 years.”  ~ Lyndon B. Johnson

And even as LBJ was being praised by liberals for his appointment of Thurgood Marshall to the Supreme Court, behind closed doors LBJ’s cynical brand of “identity politics” became clear.  As presidential historian Robert Dallek recounts, LBJ explained his decision to a staff member by saying:

“”Son, when I appoint a nigger to the court, I want everyone to know he’s a nigger.” ~ Lyndon B. Johnson

But I digress … back to the Tweets:

Has Obama been caught in misrepresentation of the truth?

Our Offshoring President

Off-shoring jobs is wrong, right? That’s the whole theme of the Obama campaign’s attacks against Mitt Romney.

And Obama is in the clear on this, because he doesn’t run a company that uses foreign companies to provide services that American workers could provide…

Er, wait. What if we applied the same standard to the federal government?

In the print edition of the Washington Post yesterday (but not at WashingtonPost.com).

The Russian government more than doubled its U.S. contracts last year by providing helicopters for Afghanistan and rides to the International Space Station.

Companies run by the Russian government received $792 million in direct federal awards in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, compared with $342 million the year before. They were among 30 prime vendors based outside the United States ranked in a Bloomberg Government study of the largest 200 federal vendors in fiscal 2011. Those contractors — including Rome-based Finmeccanica SpA and Russian arms trader Rosoboronexport — attracted almost $29 billion in direct awards, about 8.6 percent of the top 200 total of $338 billion, according to the study.

…The United States retired its shuttle fleet last year and now relies on countries including Russia to ferry astronauts and supplies to the International Space Station. The Space Agency’s awards rose 21 percent from $341 million in 2010 to $414 million the next year.

…Other foreign companies on the top 200 list included holding company Finmeccanica, whose units received $1.3 billion in direct awards last year for products including military aircraft components; oil vendor BP, with $1.4 billion; and Amsterdam-based military food supplier Supreme Foodservice, with $2 billion.

So President Obama, head of an administration that paid foreign companies almost $29 billion for services like food, gas, and space travel last year is attacking Romney for “offshoring…” when FactCheck.org declared, ” we found no evidence to support the claim that Romney — while he was still running Bain Capital — shipped American jobs overseas.”

So, just to clarify on the amount of business contracts each candidate has sent to foreign and overseas companies:

President Obama: Almost $29 billion.

Mitt Romney: $0.

I guess the Truth Hurts

  1. James Gartner says:

It seems like you have to check your brains at the door before you can join the democratic party!

  2. If you haven’t seen it, you should watch the ducamentory Fog of War by Errol Morris. It’s an interview with Robert McNamara and how he admits he was wrong about the Vietnam war strategy and how, at one point, he tried to convince Johnson that the war was a mistake. I grew up during the civil right era also. We lived in San Francisco and I can recall being very concerned about the other faction of civil rights proponents, the Black Panthers and others who were pursuing a more violent strategy. Interesting times.
